Description: The Brown Bear Camp Out is an annual event held in mid-August at Penrose Point State Park. This park is perfect for young children. There are age-appropriate hiking trails, a large grassy area for games, a sandy beach area, and a rocky spit which children love to explore, watch the horse clams spout water and hunt for critters. There is also boat moorage if you choose to camp by boat.

Itinerary: Once again, we are offering organized activities. Our Itinerary is subject to change depending upon the weather conditions.

Helpful Hints & Ideas

This is our first time camping as a family. Will people help us?

Yes! The benefit of this trip is that you will know other families. People are always willing to help out. For more details on finding equipment, what to pack and food ideas, click here.

Can we bring our dogs?

Absolutely!!! Molly & Panther will be there and would love to have playmates. Remember, though, the state parks require that you keep your dog on a leash at all times.

What type of food do we bring?

Typically, people tend to bring "easy to prepare" meals.

Breakfast: pancakes, eggs, bacon, cereal and etc...

Lunch: Sandwiches, deli meats, soups, crackers...

Dinner: A spaghetti feed will be provided the first night by the Panza's & Hittles at site #28, but you can provide other meals for yourself or to share at a potluck. The kids will love roasting hot dogs.                                                                                     Last updated 2/2/05
